Meet Damian Dunn

Up first in our ‘Meet The Expert’ series is our Vice President of Advice, Damian Dunn, a certified financial planner, CFPTM. He is from Northern Indiana and currently lives and works there. Dunn has worked for Your Money Line since 2018.

Question: What got you interested in personal finance and coaching?

Answer: That’s a long story. The short version is that I had been searching for a meaningful way to work with people regardless of their financial circumstances. That can be a daunting task in the traditional financial industry. YML allows everyone on the FG Team to work with whoever contacts us with barriers to access.

Q: Do you have any pets?

A: 2 dogs, 3 cats. All rescues in one way or another.

Q: What do you love about being a Financial Guide?

A: I love knowing we’re making a difference in people's lives who may not have otherwise sought out financial guidance. We have the privilege to answer people’s questions every day while not worrying about making a sale.

Q: What’s your favorite financial topic to discuss/help people with?

A: Big-picture planning is amazing. For example, today you’re here, but you want to be there in 10 years. What do we need to do in order to make that a reality? What might derail you? How can we help keep you on track?

Q: If you gave a 10-minute Ted Talk today what would it be about?

A: A brief summary of the life of a swim dad.

Q: Share a moment with a participant that impacted you.

A: I had the privilege of helping a newly widowed participant rebuild her financial life from the ground up. Organization, planning, execution. The whole thing. It was incredibly rewarding.

Q:  What’s a hobby that brings you joy?

A: Car shopping with my son. Will we ever buy a “fun” car? Neither of us knows, but we enjoy the time spent together looking for (and often test driving) our next “car”.

Dunn also writes for our blog and you can catch him weekly on the Pete the Planner radio show which you can access through Apple Podcast or Spotify.
