⚠️Breaking News: CDC Issues 60-Day Eviction Moratorium

Date:

August 3, 2021

Topic:

The CDC announced a 60 day limited moratorium on evictions in areas with high Covid infections.

Background:

The Covid-19 eviction moratorium expired in June and was extended to the end of July.

What’s new:

This is a new 60 day limited moratorium for areas that are experiencing a high rate of Covid-19 infections due to the Delta variant. The CDC states that evictions would exacerbate the transmission rate in areas that are already experiencing high rates of infection. The moratorium is intended to mitigate this risk.

Who will be impacted:

This will cover about 80% of the counties in the U.S. and roughly 90% of the U.S. population.

Important dates:

This moratorium expires on October 3, 2021.

Special considerations:

Although the Supreme Court held up the prior CDC moratorium, a warning was issued that additional moratoriums go beyond the CDC’s authority without congressional action.

Additional information:

The full CDC order can be read here. Our team will continue to monitor this situation. If you have any questions we can be reached Monday through Friday 9AM-9PM EST.
